For as long as i can remember I have had a fairly complex setup involving many of the Arrs, Usenet clients, hundreds of terabytes of storage on an unraid server, I have switched between Plex, Jellyfin, Emby etc I recently decided to look into upgrading and cleaning up this stack of software and i stumbled across DMB which is the Debrid Media Bridge. I am fairly new to this type of setup, as it has a piece of software that basically mounts your Real-Debrid webdav of all of the torrents you’ve added to your account, thus letting you mount a folder containing terabytes of media stored on RD’s servers. Once mounted everything isnt very organized so theirs other software that performs some magic and the end result has it categorized and ready to be mounted into your plex setup, and it all works… surprisingly well! I am extremely amazed at how this works and when i mean amazed.. i mean blown away, its impossible for me to even tell that this media isn’t stored directly on my array! Now it is a little complex to get going, but its not that bad and when i ran into an issue the people at their discord were amazingly helpful. I will try to document my experience setting up and using this dmb stack shortly, but i can certainly link to the resources that helped me get going right away.
First check out the DMB github it has all the information you need to get started. I used the unraid package because I have it running on my unraid nas, and while there were some issues with an update.. it also had multiple updates within less than a day which fixed the issues I was experiencing aswell as other issues others were having. This is some bleeding edge software that isn’t exactly 100% stable and I am extremely excited to see how this project (as well as all the accompanying projects) develops, if you run into issues join their discord server. From my experience everyone is quite helpful and working to make the software both better and easier to work with.
You can also find Riven configuration options and information at this link here. and you can rent hosted managed instances through https://elfhosted.com/ they seem to have a lot of experience with these software stacks, so check them out or dive in and host it yourself and i can promise you it will be a rewarding and interesting endeavor… If a potentially bottomless, infinite media library without wasting storage space sounds like a good thing to you, it does for me.. and I was blown away. And now I can have hundreds of TB’s of storage back for other cool projects (:
